a royal ring

December 25th brought me the mother of all bling... the Kate Middleton's engagement ring from Princess Diana. Needless to say, I'm beyond thrilled and can't help but to admire my sparkler at any possible opportunity. Thanks, Mom! :)

Did anyone else get any standout gifts?

welcome, 2012!

I'm sad to see darling 2011 ride off into the sunset, but I couldn't be more excited to see what's ahead in 2012. A new city, new job--things are already looking good!

I don't have any earth-shattering resolutions.  The usual work-out-eat-healthy-blog-more seem to cover most of my bases, although I have been pretty inspired by the beauty resolutions on the Birchbox blog and the beauty department. Who knows.. maybe 2012 will be the year I get flossing on a regular basis!

Excuse me while I get a little sentimental, and take a walk down my instagram-memory lane... it seems like just yesterday I moved into my darling little apartment in downtown Indy. I bought some furniture, finally hung things on the wall (went with gallery wall)--and now I'm moving again.

I'm headed north for a new opportunity, and couldn't be more excited :) My days have consisted of packing and pinning--I'm getting inspired for my new place!

festive fashion, tree farm-style

Yeah, I just pinned about faux trees... and this is about a farm tree date. So sue me!

This collage is by Ashley of a {little} dash of ash. I saw this on Pinterest and thought it was a perfect holiday post. Ho, ho, ho... and fur trimmed gloves.

non-tree Christmas trees

Since I've moved out on my own this summer, Christmas is the first holiday that I'd really like to decorate for. Paper snowflakes, advent calendar--consider them done.

Only one thing is standing in my way of having a perfect Martha Stewart Christmas (if she was 22, middle-class, and lived in Indiana) ... the Christmas tree. Personally, I like the alternative route... at least for the time being. When I get settled and less inclined to spend extra money on nail polish (sorry I'm not sorry), I'll spring for a nice tree with beautiful ornaments (preferably from Anthropologie).

Until then, trees of tape and Post-its will do just fine.

For more non-tree trees, check up the round-up by Apartment Therapy.

a peek at mi casa

Welcome to my humble abode!

Introducing a mini-tour of my mini apartment. I love the 550 sq ft space--especially a few pieces. Most of my apartment is the product of various diy frenzies... the black frame above features a wire + clip display, and the "keys" rack was decoupaged with wrapping paper from a present from my grandma.

The bulletin board in my bedroom was painted white and organized a little more carefully than the normal haphazard hanging. (One of my friends said it is my own real-life pinterest board!)
My earrings and necklaces are propped above my bookcase on a painted bulletin board and recovered memo board. And last but not least, the (slightly off-kilter) silverware-mirror above my sink was created using this tutorial I found on pinterest.

traditional with a twist

Christmas attire can easily go the route of tacky (see evidence here). Enter the Ugly Sweater shirts by Vardagen--the Christmas sweater vibe without the actual Christmas sweater. (Psst: the gorgeous 3 models above are 3 of my sorority sisters! Total babes, right?!)

And another example of holiday clothes, done right: J.Crew.

                     Pinned Image

The artful mix of plaid, sequins, and bright red scream "festive"! I'm getting a little sick of my wardobe... and J.Crew flaunting their holiday collection of adorableness is not helping!
