family vacay: hhi 2013

A few weeks ago, my family hit the beach for a much-needed week of sun, surf and sand at Hilton Head Island. (Heavy on the sun - the boys and I were pretty fried!) We have a longtime love affair with HHI: my mom's family grew up vacationing there, and we've been at least once a summer for as long as I can remember. It's pretty much perfection.

Our week was just what the doctor ordered. I made a special effort to avoid my phone as much as possible (see ya nev Snapchat, Instagram, etc, etc!) and it was great to unplug. We biked a ton (my mom is known for her crazy-long bike rides) and hit the beach every day. Like last year, Bocce Ball was a favorite beach activity, and I'm happy to report I won a few rounds! (Trust me, it was a surprise to everyone).

Getting back to reality has been a little tough, so I like to peruse my pictures to remind myself of those lazy beach days.

Until next year, HHI!

* Feel free to think the photo above appears to be the picture of love on a beautiful day ... when in fact, my mom was holding on to my dad's bike because we were pedaling against the wind, it was really hard and she needed a little extra help. (Busted!)

** Have you guys downloaded the new app by the sister act blogging duo, A Beautiful Mess? It's $0.99 well-spent! I used it on my iPhone pictures for this post. The font and doodle options are too cute!

*** This post marks my official attempt to return to consistent (or as close as consistent as possible) blogging. While at home over the weekend, my aunt (hi, Ann!) was asking about this poor neglected blog ... so I think it's time to get things going again. Stay tuned!

pinch me, i'm matchbook mag's june gadget girl!

It's true! I am so thrilled and honored to be on the amazing pages of Matchbook Mag. I've been the biggest fan since their very first issue! I read the magazine front to back every month and also follow (politely stalk?) the Matchbook Mag team on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Tumblr

Another Butler gal is in the issue too! Christina, a fellow College of Business chica, is featured in the "Just Married" section. Christina and her husband Sean had a beautiful wedding in Sonoma, CA. (And I'm obsessed with her short lace dress.)

Read the entire June issue here!
