... and baby makes three: introducing prince george!

The royal baby is here! The little bundle of joy (formally known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge) arrived July 22. Will and Kate made their first appearance as a family of three the following day in what may be the cutest press conference ever!

Will was adorable, joking about the baby having Kate's looks and a good set of lungs. And Kate ... girlfriend can do no wrong, even the day after giving birth. She was all smiles, with a beautiful blow-out and that post-baby belly that's being celebrated by moms worldwide. Kate does it again!

A few of my favorite things about the royal birth:

1. Kate's shout-out to Diana with her polka dot dress. Really, really sweet!

2. Will and Kate matching in baby blue. (And millions of girls around the world go Awww ....)

3. The first royal baby shopping frenzy! Prince George was swaddled in aden + anais jungle jam swaddle. Kate is known for mixing low with bespoke, so I can't wait to follow along with her baby shopping.

4. Even though the announcement officially came through on the internet, I love the easel tradition outside of Buckingham Palace. Sure, it doesn't make sense these days, with the Twitterverse alive and kicking, but it's part of the monarchy and I love that.

5. Royal reactions: Queen Elizabeth treated the folks at Buckingham Palace to a bit of bubbly to toast the arrival of her great grandson. The Wales men were equally excited, with Prince Charles' being "enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather" and Prince Harry vowing to be a "fun" uncle. (Like we ever doubted ya, Harry!)

Congratulations Will and Kate, and welcome to the world George Alexander Louis!

in these shoes: tory burch

Ah, Tory Burch ... the beauty that results when business, brains and blonde collide. She tops so many "best-dressed" lists that it's no wonder the brand has taken to sharing her styling wealth with the masses in the new Pinterest board, In These Shoes. The board is a great mix of silos, lifestyles, and tips and tricks for treating your toes with the Tory technique.

A few favorites:

(I could think of a few places this hem length one ought to be posted yaknowhatimsaying?)

western ho! & watercolor maps

First up, a getaway ...

I'm headed to Utah for a little reunion with two college chicas. I've never been to the beehive state (really, beehive?!) so I'm excited to do a little exploring. On the agenda: Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, with a home-base in Provo. Oh yeah, and not dying from the 99 degree temps!

About the map above: Stamen Design has an awesome program with 3 map "filters - watercolor, toner and terrain. I love the watercolor version - especially with little lakes or rivers in the area. How pretty is Great Salt Lake in the Utah map (above)?

After playing around with Utah, I plugged in a few other destinations ...

London (with a wiggly River Thames!)

Central Park in NYC

Downtown Indianapolis (Monument Circle even has the little fountains!)

Ah, Paree!

I found this site on Pinterest and love it. You can zoom in or zoom out depending on how detailed you want to go.  In the cities, it's neat to see how they are laid out, like a San Fran grid versus Paris spoke. I want to print a few and frame as a reminder of where I've been and where I want to go!

Have a great weekend!

balloon swoon: j.crew style guide, july 2013

I love J.Crew (s/o to my fictional gal pals Jenna and Gayle) and fancy balloons, so it's no surprise that the combination of the two makes me very, very happy. In the July 2013 edition of the J.Crew Style Guide, the fashion mecca paired with the NYC-based Balloon Saloon for the crewcuts spread. (Well, they only mention it on the pineapple page, but I'm guessing the Balloon Saloon is responsible for each creation?)

How fun would these be at a summer shindig? ("Say cheese next to the giant, towering anchor!")

I love that J. Crew is keeping crewcuts young and fun with this balloon spread. The mini models may rock that infamous Style Guide half-tuck, but can fish-face with the best of them!
