royal christening: official photos

Hooray: Prince George is back! Will and Kate have slowly been getting back in the swing of public appearances (how does Kate look as good playing volleyball as she does at an awards gala?), but George has been hiding out at Kensington Palace since the last round of #royalbaby mania - no doubt prepping for his christening.

I love these official photos! The royal trio is too cute, and George's chubby cheeks and waving arms are adorable.

Very cool: four generations of monarchs.

One big happy family! (I read this on Twitter and am equally as curious - why did the Queen's handbag make it in the shot??)

All royals.

motivation monday [no.3]

Ah, taper time. After my 20 miler, I was beyond happy that the mileage was going down. But ... tapering is hard. I've never tapered for a running race, but I am all too familiar with a swim taper. ('twas the time of the season where I turned cranky, anxious and drove everyone crazy). The questions and doubts were endless: If you rest too much - are you losing endurance/strength? If you don't rest enough, will you be tire too quickly? What's the fine line between carbo-loading and carbo-over-loading?

This time, I'm hoping to sing a different tune on land! To help, I've been taking advice from some experts at Runner's World ...

And, I've been loving recent race recaps of the Chicago marathon - the brutal honesty (puking! crying!) is refreshing but ter-ri-fy-ing!

Wish me luck for a successful taper!

loving // rifle paper co 2013 lookbook

I can't even say how much I love the Rifle Paper Co. 2013 Lookbook. I can't get enough of the paper + petal combo! Anna Bond's illustration alone are stunning, and when you add the expertise of floral designer Amy Merrick, the result is gorgeous.

Really, really gorgeous.

The roses page is a pretty kick in the pants, right?

Check out the lookbook (and shop!) on the Rifle Paper Co. site.

motivation monday [no.2]

It's officially taper time! I ran my twenty miles on Saturday (that last half mile nearly killed me) and am really looking forward to not-as-long runs for the last 2 weekends before the race.

Newest inspiration: a few fitness-friendly instagram accounts. I check instagram pretty much constantly during the day, and it's nice to see a little pick-me-ups pop up. (If anything, it makes me rethink the trip down to the candy bowl!)

Ones to watch ...

I love their guest posts - they let employees #takeover the account for the day, and followers get a firsthand look at their daily routines. (Lots of green smoothies and downward dogs!)

-----

The age group swimmer in me geeks out at anything having to do with Natalie Coughlin. She's adorable, crazy-fast (and has the Olympic medals to prove it), competed on "Chopped" and appeared in Runner's World. Natalie is a huge foodie, and *almost* makes me want to grow a garden.

-----

Legs for days! The Nike Running account makes me want to hit the pavement (or trail or beach or whatever ...) no matter the weather. As someone whose running routes are pretty routine, I love seeing what cool races and locales the team is running.

-----

It's a relatively new account, but I love the variety of sports they cover. It's pretty much how I envision life is like when you wear only Nike gear. (And have a six pack ...)

-----

Any others I should be following?

motivation monday [no.1]

Less than one month until my first (and maybe last ...) marathon! There is no time like the present to gather some serious motivation to help prepare myself for what's to come on race day. I'm reading this, eating these, listening to this and trying to keep my eye on the prize.

First dose of motivation? A little man candy. Thanks for the support, Ry-guy!
